Who I am — Musician, Teacher, Coach

Welcome to My Musical Journey
With over 40 years of experience as a professional musician, I have served as the principal trombone in esteemed orchestras such as the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, PACT Symphony in Pretoria, and until 2022, the Bern Symphony Orchestra. My musical path has afforded me the opportunity to perform alongside remarkable ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony, RSO Frankfurt, Tonhalle Orchestra, and Opera Zürich, as well as participate in collaborations with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Halle Orchestra, and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.
My passion for chamber music has led me to work with noted groups like the Canadian Chamber Ensemble and the International Brass Soloists, and I am currently involved with the Bern-based Innobrass Quintet. A highlight of my career includes winning the Silver Medal at the International Prague Spring Festival Competition in 1987, which opened doors to numerous engagements and international tours with orchestras, wind ensembles, and brass bands. I’ve had the pleasure of recording extensively, from radio to CD, including standout works like the Ernst Bloch Symphony for Trombone and Orchestra and the world premiere of Klaus Cornell’s “The Legend at Mary’s Peak” with the Bern Symphony.
After an enriching tenure, I have recently retired from my professorship at the Zürich University of the Arts, where I taught trombone, chamber music, and Performance Mental and Audition Training, known as Audition Boot Camp. In addition to ZHdK, I have shared my knowledge of mental training at HEMU Lausanne-Fribourg-Sion and served as a visiting professor at the Musikhochschule Trossingen and Freiburg Germany.
As a certified NLP Practitioner, Hypno-coach, RMT Strategic Intervention Life Coach, and Wingwave® practitioner, I offer master classes, seminars, and private coaching sessions globally. My focus is not only on enhancing performance for musicians, dancers, actors, students, athletes, and business professionals but also on empowering individuals to reshape restrictive narratives and negative states, enabling them to uncover and embrace their true potential. Join me on this transformative journey towards becoming the best version of yourself.
I’ve always been captivated by extraordinary performers—whether they are hockey players, ultra-marathoners, musicians, actors, teachers, doctors, business professionals, or parents. What is it that sets them apart and makes them excel in their pursuits? How can one harness that elusive quality and apply it to any endeavor?
My quest for answers to these questions took me on a challenging personal journey. It all began after my wife left me, plunging me into a deep depression, compounded by an excessive reliance on alcohol and a cycle of self-pity.
In my search for a way out, I stumbled upon an advertisement for Strategic Intervention Coach Training offered by The Robbins-Madanes Institute. The course promised profound self-work, exploring relationships, generational influences, the impact of self-talk, and much more. I had long lost touch with the concept of “schoolwork,” so this year-long program was a true eye-opener!
Throughout that transformative year, I found myself drawn to another intriguing program—Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), a cornerstone of much of Tony Robbins’ work (the “Robbins” of Robbins Madanes). I eagerly signed up for the introductory weekend course and was instantly captivated. I completed my Practitioner training the following year and went on to earn my Hypnocoach NLP certification a year later. In November 2020, I became a certified Wingwave® Practitioner (I’ll delve into these fascinating topics in more detail later).
Thanks to the insights and skills I gained during these years, I completely turned my life around. Now, it’s my time to give back and help others—maybe you—achieve their desired state in life.
